I'm happy to hear from Howard Bussey that you're considering serving as development chairman for the 100th Anniversary celebration of the founding of our hometown. As chairman, I just want to make our invitation official.
As Howard mentioned to you, he had already gotten the campaign largely organized before his bank told him they were transferring him to New Orleans. Of the $230,000 we're aiming for, Howard tells me we already have firm commitments for $100,000, and, of course, the campaign has not even been announced yet.
I'm not saying there isn't a great deal of effort ahead, but I'm convinced that your energy and leadership will put us quickly over the top. I look forward to hearing you say "yes" at lunch next Wednesday.
